How does the test work?

Decipher Bladder is a genomic test that helps inform treatment decisions following a bladder cancer diagnosis.

A young female health care provider with glasses and a stethoscope, smiling and holding papers, converses with a patient in a bright office. The setting feels professional and welcoming.

Decipher Bladder is for patients diagnosed with non-muscle invasive or muscle invasive bladder cancer (clinical stage T1-T4a).

A scientist in a lab coat uses a pipette in a laboratory. The setting is organized and focused, highlighting concentration and precision.

Your Decipher Bladder results group your tumor into one of two main molecular subtype categories:

  • Luminal subtypes are associated with less aggressive disease, lower risk of disease spread, and distinct responses to certain treatments.
  • Non-luminal subtypes are associated with more aggressive disease, higher risk of disease spread, and a greater likelihood of benefit from treatments like chemotherapy or immunotherapy in some patients.
A surgeon in a blue surgical mask and cap focuses intently, with gloved hands raised. The close-up conveys concentration and precision.

The Decipher test is performed on tumor tissue taken during a transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).

No additional medical procedure is required.

Your doctor receives your Decipher test results in a report tailored to your clinical scenario. They will review the report with you and discuss how it may guide your treatment.

Understanding your test result

The Decipher Bladder report provides the molecular subtype of your tumor and language that helps interpret:

  • How the subtype impacts disease prognosis
  • Likelihood of upstaging
  • Benefit from receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC)
