Decipher Prostate Cancer Test for Patients

Your doctor or provider places the order for Decipher Prostate. Once the test result is available, it will be sent to your doctor. If you have questions, talk with your doctor or contact us.

The Decipher Prostate test is performed using your existing tissue sample, either from your original prostate biopsy or from surgery to remove the prostate. No new biopsy or procedure is needed.

Once your doctor orders the test, Veracyte coordinates directly with the pathology lab to retrieve your tissue sample, perform the genomic analysis, and send the Decipher report back to your doctor.

Once your tissue sample is received at the Veracyte laboratory, results are typically sent to your doctor within 2–3 weeks. Your doctor will review the Decipher report with you once it’s available.

Medicare and many commercial insurance plans provide coverage, and we offer financial assistance and flexible payment options for eligible patients. If your insurance does not cover the full cost of the test, financial assistance may be available for eligible patients through the Veracyte Access Program to help minimize out-of-pocket expenses. Your Decipher score is one data point of many that helps your doctor decide which treatment approach may be best for you. Talk to your doctor about your Decipher score and recommended treatment plan.

• A low score usually means the cancer is less likely to grow or spread, so less intensive treatment such as active surveillance may be appropriate.
• A high score suggests the cancer may behave more aggressively, and your doctor may recommend starting treatment sooner or using a stronger treatment approach.
